[edit] Twins in America - Shedd AquariumWhen it opened in Chicago, Illinois in 1930, the Shedd Aquarium was the largest indoor aquarium in the world and known by its original name, the Columbian Museum of Chicago. It was later named for John Shedd, a President of the Marshall Field Department Store who was influential in its formation. Today the aquarium is the most visited aquarium in the world with more than 2,000,000 visitors in 2005 to see its 25,000 fish and sealife exhibits. The aquarium is part of the Museum Campus next to the Adler Planetarium and the Field Museum. Some popular exhibits at the aquarium include the Caribbean Coral Reef, Oceanarium, Waters of the World, Amazon Rising and Wild Reef. Unlike some aquariums, the Shedd Aquarium truly represents sea and ocean life from across the globe. For the latest museum information and exhibits, you're invited to visit their official web site. Another cool site to visit is their photo and video site that lets visitors share images of their trips.
